Note: Character descriptions are based on the TV show & OAV follow up. Characters that appear in to original OAV & Movies have very similar background information. due to the broad nature of this sections coverage of the franchise, not all characters will be listed.

patlabor characters:

	Izumi Noa
	position: Section 2, Unit 2, Number one Forword. background: The Labor loving girl who lovingly named her Patlabor, or "pat-chan", Alphonse, the third time she's used that name, the other times being for a pet dog & cat. Though quite skilled & adept at piloting her pat-chan, she tends to get apprehensive when in combat, or other duty's arise that may get her labor dirty & or damaged, but she will do it if job is truly important, usually demanding that one of the crew, usually Asuma, help clean Alphonse afterwards.

	Shinohara Asuma
	position: Section 2, Unit 2, Number one Backup, command car. background: Son of the president of Shinohara Heavy Industries, one of the largest manufacturers of labors in Japan, though he doesn't get along with his father at all, which is why he joined the police force. Asuma is quite intelligent & often to much so for his own good, which lands him in trouble with his superiors from time to time, though mostly due to Captain Goto manipulation.

	Yamasaki Hiromi
	position: Section 2, Unit 2, Number one Labor carrier. background: A really big, but really caring and all around nice guy. Enjoys nature and raises tomatoes and chickens for eggs, which is helpful for feeding the crew since they are way out on the piece of reclaimed land. Often envious of Shinshi for his marred life.

	Ohta Isao
	position: Section 2, Unit 2, Number two Forword. background: The gun loving hot head, he tends to get impatient when he's told to wait for orders while in the field, often it's impossible to hold him at bay, though Kanuka & later Takeo do their best to keep him from cracking, dispite this he's a very good & skilled officer & labor pilot, which is likely why he hasn't lost his job.

	Kanuka Clancy
	position: Section 2, Unit 2, Number two Backup, command car. background: A Japanese-American from the New York Police Department, (Speaks both English & Japanese), she joins Second Unit for six months of training. She's a highly skilled labor pilot, strict & tough, keeping her head during most any situation. She usualy keeps her personal affairs to herself. (note: for some reason in domestic subtitles they flip her name, in effect making it Japanese order)

	Kumagami Takeo
	position: Section 2, Unit 2, Number two Backup, command car. background: Kanuka's replacement after she returns to New York. From the Hong Kong police, she's too is a very capable officer & can get things done. Though very level headed, she looses it when it comes to ghost stories. (Not in the Original OAV or Movies)

	Shinshi Mikiyasu
	position: Section 2, Unit 2, Number two Labor carrier. background: Quite neurotic, he often gets nervous when they're on the scene. He's married to wife Tamiko, who's always rooting for him. Don't take his shy nervousness lightly & push him around, he can loose control becoming quite dangerous.

	Goto Kiichi
	position: Captian, SV2 Section 2. background: To the casual observer, Goto may seem easygoing & carefree, & in many ways he is, but he actually very clever & intelligent, he usually keeps pretty quite about his investigations, often using his officers to aid him without them realizing, or at least not till it's too late. So if he's so clever why is he out on that remote piece of reclaimed land? He's out there because he's too clever. It can also be said that he has a thing for Captian Nagumo.

	Nagumo Shinobu
	position: Captian, SV2 Section 1. background: A model of what the SV2 should be, but despite this her section is passed up when the SV2 gets the new Ingram 98's. This lack of up to date machines doesn't keep her or her section from doing her best, they make due with what they got, quietly waiting for their turn to get new labors. Can get a bit annoyed when Goto is up to something, especially when it's at her expense.

	Gomioka Tsutomu
	position: Section 1, Unit 1, Number one Forword. background: Proud labor pilot of unit 1, he's the exact opposite of unit 2's pilots, calm, cool, & collected under pressure. Very serious about the job. Probably the next best pilot next to Kanuka. (Not in the Original OAV or Movies)

	Yuuki
	position: Section 1, Unit 1, Number two Forword. background: Not too much known about Yuhki as he's not in it that much. He's young & sometimes a bit nervous, but a good labor pilot none the less. (Not in the Original OAV or Movies)

	Sakaki Seitaru
	position: Chief in charge of maintenance crew. background: The veteran mechanic who's not one for computers, and prefers tuning up his classic car over running diagnostic programs, but dispite his old ways, he still has many days left in him. He's often in tune with Goto's strategies, helping him out on many occasions.

	Shiba Shigeo
	position: Maintenance crew member. background: In charge when Sakaki is away, & unlike Sakaki loves computers & new technology, is very skilled with them, sometimes getting into trouble with his inventions & modifications to vehicles & other equipment. Gets along well with Asuma, & they sometimes work together solving conspiracies and such. He will some day replace Sakaki as chief mechanic when he retires.

	Jitsuyama
	position: Head of the Shinohara Heavy Industries Labor Lactory. background: He started out in mechanics with Asuma's father, starting an a business which would become Shinohara Heavy Industries. Asuma doesn't get along with his father, but he does like Jitsuyama, who at times is more of a father figure to him. He often helps the team when they need advice concerning labors. He's also the one the go to when the labors need major overhauls.

	position: House wife . background: Shinshi Mikiyasu's wife, who loves him very much, & isn't shy about standing up & rooting for him. She does tend worry about him sometimes as the job can be dangerous, but she can get quite a temper as well.

	Detective Matsui
	position: Toyko Police Detective-inspector. background: Teams up with Goto quite often to help each other on cases, trading information the two wouldn't normally have access to. They have a solid bond of trust between the two.

	position: TV Reporter. background: (Not in the Original OAV) As a reporter she often finds herself trying to get a good scoop from the SV2, but also becomes part of the scoop itself. They often do help each other out. (Not in the Original OAV or Movies)
